Indian Domestic Season: Duleep Trophy Starts June 28, Ranji Trophy Starts January 5, 2024


The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on Tuesday (April 11) announced the schedule of India’s domestic season 2023-24 that will see a total of 1846 matches being played between the last week of June 2023 and March 2024.

The much-anticipated domestic season will begin with Duleep Trophy, scheduled to take place from June 28, 2023, to July 16, 2023. The Deodhar Trophy, which will be played after a long hiatus will run from July 24, 2023, to August 03, 2023.

Both these tournaments will feature six zones - Central, South, North, East, West, and North-East. The season will conclude with the Irani Cup, starting on October 01, 2023, where Saurashtra will face off against the Rest of India.

The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy will take place from October 16, 2023, to November 06, 2023, followed by the Vijay Hazare Trophy, set to be played from November 23, 2023, to December 15, 2023. 

A total of 38 teams will participate in both these white-ball tournaments, with seven teams in each of the two groups and eight teams in each of the three groups.

Meanwhile, the Ranji Trophy, one of the most prestigious red-ball tournaments in India, is scheduled to begin on January 05, 2024, and continue until March 14, 2024. 

The 2023-24 season of Ranji Trophy will see 38 teams competing in five groups, including four Elite Groups with eight teams each and a Plate Group consisting of six teams.

Meanwhile, the Women's domestic cricket will start with the Senior Women's T20 Trophy, commencing from October 19, 2023, to November 09, 2023.

Following the Women’s T20 trophy, the Senior Women's Inter Zonal Trophy will take place from November 24, 2023, to December 04, 2023. The Senior Women's One-Day Trophy, on the other hand, will begin on January 04, 2024, with the final set to be played on January 26, 2024.
