Tim David- The Big Dream that was long awaited

It always starts off as a miracle for some and a quest for others. But few have it in their destiny.

To belong or not belong there is a matter of thought, but if not this way, Tim David somehow was meant for it. Despite running away from his destination, he is back where he should be.

He can literally strike it big and far enough, if not out-of-the-park, every time. David has that x-factor ability to prove why he is turning out to be the most wanted in franchise T20 cricket.

In 1997, when Tim's family shifted back to Australia, little did the two-year-old knew that cricket would turn out to be his go-to sport. 2019 was only getting complicated, but at least he had options. His father used to play cricket for Singapore, he too followed that route when his dream to play for Australia began to diminish after a snub from BBL and Western Australia.

The contract wasn't renewed, and all he could do was shift his base and, if you happen to know the condition of Associate nations, you know that getting there isn't arduous but playing enough cricket throughout the year is.

He would go and play at number 3, where he featured in just 14 T20I matches, but enough to get in the eye of various professional setups. So his call-back to Big Bash, this time for Hobart Hurricanes in 2021, was no less than a redemption story of any sort.

This time he was sure, extremely sure to put his name on the charts with an impressive strike rate of over 150. But, in general, what is the thing that makes you a short format superstar?- Intent.

And, he was full of it.

The Fairytail show

When his BBL exploits were enough for some reckoning, the heads were turned towards him from the PSL. Lahore Qalandars took a bold move to acquire the services of a lesser-known Singapore-Australian cricketer. The punt paid dividends, six innings is all he played but guess what? 180 runs at a strike rate of 166.

After heads, the eyes were turned too.

A few months following PSL, the right-hander was called to ply his trade in the UK. First, in the T20 Blast and then in the Royal London Cup, where he donned Surrey's jersey to deliver a fruitful season earning him a place in the inaugural season of the Hundred for Southern Brave. After that, the CPL opportunity came through and then came his first break in the most prized-league IPL, in the second half of the postponed 2021 edition as a replacement signing.

RCB deal seemed a great opportunity until Mumbai Indians fully acquired him for 8.25 Crores to task him with a genuine finisher's role.

Although he was getting a decent run everywhere but the only thing missing from his repertoire was his primary ambition- playing for Australia.

It feels like everything seemed aligned for the big hitter and how. The defending champions announced their squad for the India tour and 2022 T20 World Cup down under, and there was one name that raised everyone's eyebrows. And you know already who it is.
