I was completely blown away: Virat Kohli on Suryakumar Yadav's knock

India became the second team to qualify for the Super 4 stage of the Asia Cup 2022 after notching a 40-run win over Hong Kong last evening. The stars for India were Suryakumar Yadav and former captain Virat Kohli, who stitched a 98-run stand.

Yadav, in particular, stole Kohli's thunder by smacking a whirlwind knock of 68*, which included 30 runs off Haroon Arshad. Kohli and Yadav, far from being fierce rivals in the Indian Premier League (IPL), have enjoyed each other's company in the middle while playing for India.

Kohli, who remained unbeaten on 59*, said in an interaction on BCCI.tv that he was blown away watching SKY's knock.

"I enjoyed the knock thoroughly at the other end. He came in an changed the entire momentum of the game in a pitch that was not as easy to bat as he made it look," 

"I have seen so many from a distance when we play in the Indian Premier League when you have played against us. This was my first time watching it very closely. I was completely blown away."

Kohli further inquired about SKY eyeing former India player Yuvraj Singh's record of 6 sixes in an over, to which the later replied in a cheeky fashion.

"I was trying my best, but let’s not get past Yuvi pa (Yuvraj Singh),"

Yadav, who has been India's leading batter in 2022 in T20Is, asked Kohli about his return to international cricket after a long break. Kohli, who now has the highest T20I batting average opened about his knock.

"Six weeks is a long time in the international level. I kind of got the pace of the wicket, and I understand my job is to stabilise the team and build partnerships along the innings. I told you that I could keep going at one end, but once you started hitting, my role immediately changed and I needed to hold one end,"
