The second edition of SA20 is on full swing with matches loading each day. Game number 14 of the ongoing edition will see Paarl Royals (PR) welcome MI Cape Town (MICT) at the Boland Park, Paarl. The game is slated to begin at 7:00 PM IST.

The home side is yet to win a game in the West Cape Derby. Firstly, they lost the two games in the last edition and once again the Cape Town-based franchise edged over the counterparts in their latest encounter. However, this was the first loss for the Royals in the ongoing competition as they have secured 13 points from four matches with three wins. Meanwhile, the Kieron pollard-led unit have withstood  two wins and as many loses, gathering nine points from  four games and situated at the third position- just below their forthcoming opponents in the points table.

PR vs MICT, Match 14- Toss Factor

The Boland Park is conducive towards the bowlers than the batters. The surface is generally on the slower side and assists the spinners quite well. Medium pacers and bowlers who can change their pace wittily are likely to get favours here.  The batters need to grind hard to yield runs on this venue.

Scenario: If Paarl Royals field first

The Royals have an explosive batting line-up that includes Jason Roy, Jos Buttler, Wihan Lubbe, David Miller, Mitchen van Buuren etc. With good number of international capped players, they have the ability to play the conditions well. They chased a total very well against the Joburg Super Kings at this venue a few days back and shall look to replicate the act.

Scenario: If MI Cape Town field first

The MI-based community have been bolstered by the outstanding form of Ryan Rickelton at the top of the order. Rassie van der Dussen, Dewald Brevis, Kieron Pollard, Liam Livingstone and Sam Curran have the ability to chase totals with ease. They will look to follow the steps from their latest encounter against the Royals again.

PR vs MICT, Match 14- Top Captain and Vice-captain Choices

Scenario: If Paarl Royals field first

Tabraiz Shamsi (PR): The left-arm wrist spinner can exploit the conditions of Boland Park which is likely to favour spin bowling. In their last match against the forthcoming opposition, Shamsi was the only guy to bag the couple of wickets for the Royals. With the MI middle order lacking expertise against quality wrist spin, Shamsi could be a great match-up for the Royals during the middle over phases.

Ryan Rickelton (MICT): The 27-year-old is in unreal form with the bat in hand. Rickelton has scored fifty-plus on all the four matches he has played so far in SA20 2024. The southpaw surpassed the 80-run mark on three occasions and is the leading run-getter of the tourney with 337 runs from four innings. Going by his form, Rickelton is a real threat to any bowler.

Scenario: If MI Cape Town field first

Thomas Kaber (MICT): Yet to gain popularity for his left-arm wrist spin, Kaber is likely to be one of the finds of the SA20 2024. He toppled key players like David Miller, Andile Phehlukwayo, and Fabien Allen in their last game with the batters sounding like a fish out of water against his baggage of tricks. Kaber replaced Beuran Hendricks in the last game and won the faith of the think tank.

Jason Roy (PR): The English top-order batter was stupendous with his ball-striking abilities in the last game. He welcomed Kagiso Rabada with three consecutive sixes and a four and also followed it up by a couple of big whacks in Rabada's next over. If Roy continues with his assault in the upcoming affair, he could be one of the top contenders to multiply the points.

PR vs MICT, Match 14- High Risk, High Reward Choices

Rassie van der Dussen (MICT): The South African batter has been in good touch in the course of the tournament so far. Rassie has all the ingredients to become a top batter. He has smashed 210 runs from four innings that includes a ton against Joburg Super Kings.

Jos Buttler (PR): The English white ball captain has blown hot and cold with the bat in SA20 2024. However, Buttler managed to pile up 169 runs from four innings and is their leading run-getter in the tourney. Buttler missed out on a fifty in the last game but will look to convert against the same opposition this time around.
