The World Cup 2023 has arrived at its business end. In the tournament's second semi-final, the five-time champions, Australia, will be taking on South Africa. The match will be played at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Thursday, the 16th of November. Ahead of the game, here is a look at the top player picks, the important player stats, the top captain and vice-captain choices and the best-predicted XIs for the fantasy contests of the match.

Road to Semis

Australia

Australia had the worst possible start in their history of the tournament. They lost the first two games and looked done and out for this edition.

But the most successful team showed their class and gradually returned into the run to the top four. They have peaked at the right time and look all set to play in their 10th World Cup final.

Players to watch out: David Warner, Steve Smith, and Adam Zampa.

South Africa

South Africa have been in great form throughout the tournament. Barring a slip-up against the Netherlands and a rather convincing defeat against the hosts, India, the Proteas have had a smooth ride thus far.

However, with the knockouts at the door, their weakness while chasing will be something that will keep the team management concerned. Temba Bavuma will hope that all the departments click for him two more times and get his name inscribed in history as the first South African skipper to win the World Cup.

Player to watch out: Quinton de Kock, Rassie van der Dussen, and Aiden Markram.

AUS vs SA, Last Encounter

South Africa and Australia last faced off in the 10th match of the World Cup 2023. It was an anticlimactic affair as South Africa decimated the Aussies and won the match by a considerable margin.

Pat Cummins won the toss and invited the South Africans to bat first at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Quinton de Kock played a calm and steady knock of 109 runs from 106 deliveries and laid the stage for a big total for his team. The lower-order batters played short little cameos and got over 300 runs. Aiden Markram's 56 off 44 ensured that they posted 311 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their 50 overs.

In the chase, Australia were rocked early as the two openers were sent back to the hut within the seventh over at the team's score of 27 runs. Barring Marnus Labuschagne (46 off 74), no other Australian batter showed any resistance. They were bundled out for 177 in the 41st over and lost the game by 134 runs.

AUS vs SA, Semi-final 2: Eden Gardens, Pitch Report

The pitch at the Eden Gardens has been a sporty one. It has provided something for players for all trades. While the batters enjoyed it in the first half, the pacers also repeated benefits when they hit the right areas.

The fact that three of the four matches have been won by the team batting first will be something the captains will keep in mind during the toss.

AUS vs SA, Semi-final 2: Cricket Fantasy Expert Tips

Picking more top-order batters from the team batting first will be a good choice. Also, have spinners from the team that will defend the target in this match. A 2-4-1-4 or a 2-3-2-4 combination seems ideal for this game.
