'This Team Was Too Soft': Indian Legend 'Lambasts' Pakistan Bowling Attack

Pakistan cricket team arguably encountered their worst fate in the ongoing ICC Mens Cricket World Cup 2023. After setting up an unwanted four consecutive losses record, the team was ousted from the knockout stage by England.

That being said, the list of things that went wrong with Pakistan in this World Cup is long. However, former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif shared an interesting take on the neighbour's disastrous CWC campaign.

In a tweet posted on his 'X' handle, Kaif remarked that Pakistan pacers and the whole team collectively seemed too soft. They lacked aggression, intent, and the aura of a winning contender team.

Here's what Kaif said

"Somehow feel this Pakistan team was too soft, their pacers too nice. Wasim, Waqar, Shoaib were intimidating. They would stare at you, even sledge. Babar, Shaheen, Rauf - they lacked that aura, they looked too friendly."

Kaif further cited the example of former legendary Pakistani cricketers Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, and Shoaib Akhtar, who were intimidating in their times. Kaif recalled how that set of former players gave the opposition death stares and would not hesitate before sledging.

The former Indian cricketer further added that perhaps the current Pakistan side comprising captain Babar Azam, pacers Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf lacks that aura as they seemed extra friendly in their overall on-field demeanour.

Kaif's observation isn't completely false. Babar Azam, for instance, is a man of few words and restricts himself to hitting back at doubters on the field with his performance. Rauf is aggressive but likes to channel the energy into bowling quick deliveries. As far as Afridi is concerned, he also likes to stay reserved.
