The fourth edition of the Women's Premier League (WPL 2026) is all set to begin on a grand note as defending champions Mumbai Indians Women take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women in the opening match on Friday at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. 

WPL 2026 to begin with glitz and glamour

With excitement building, the tournament will kick off with a colourful opening ceremony. Before the first ball is bowled at 7:30 PM, spectators at the stadium and viewers watching from home will be treated to a special pre-match show starting at 6:45 PM. 

The opening ceremony will feature live performances by popular singer Yo Yo Honey Singh and Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez. Adding further glamour to the evening, actress Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu will also make a special appearance. 

The WPL 2026 season will follow a double round-robin format, with all five teams, the Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants, and UP Warriorz, facing each other twice during the league stage.

The first leg will be held in Navi Mumbai from January 9 to January 17, with the opening 11 matches played at the DY Patil Stadium. After that, the tournament will move to Vadodara for the second leg, which will run from January 19 to February 5. 

The BCA Stadium in Vadodara will host the remaining league matches as well as the knockout games.
