The fourth season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL 2026) is ready to begin. Notably, the tournament will start on January 9 and will continue until February 5, ending with the final match. This time, the matches will be played at two locations, namely Navi Mumbai and Vadodara.
To begin with, the opening match will see the defending champions, Mumbai Indians, taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The first 11 matches of the tournament will be held in Navi Mumbai. After that, the remaining 11 matches, including the Eliminator and the final, will be played in Vadodara. This schedule allows fans in two cities to enjoy the action live.
Meanwhile, ahead of the Women’s T20 tournament, teams have made several important changes to their squads. Delhi Capitals have named Jemimah Rodrigues as their new captain.
Big names missing from WPL 2026
On the other hand, Meg Lanning has been appointed captain of the UP Warriorz after being bought at the auction for Rs 1.9 crore. Previously, Lanning led Delhi Capitals to three consecutive finals in the first three seasons. However, she was released by the franchise before the mega auction.
In addition, some big players will not be part of the tournament. RCB’s Ellyse Perry and Delhi Capitals’ Annabel Sutherland have withdrawn for personal reasons. As a result, RCB have replaced Perry with Sayali Satghare, leaving them with only five overseas players, while Delhi Capitals have signed Alana King.
Furthermore, players like Alyssa Healy, Chamari Athapaththu, and Heather Knight went unsold at the auction, while Jess Jonassen, Tahlia McGrath, and Sophie Molineux did not register.
As all five teams prepare to face each other, let's take a look at the streaming details of the tournament.
