Two of the most iconic players from their respective nations, Sachin Tendulkar and Glenn McGrath have reunited for an ambitious project. However, it is not for cricket, as they have joined hands for the latest Dr. Agarwal Eye Hospital advertisement.
In their prime, the love-hate relationship between Sachin Tendulkar and Glenn McGrath was quite popular, as they have rekindled the memories of old debates that are still going on.
What Happens in the Advertisement?
The ad, which Tendulkar posted on his social media account on X, features both McGrath and him sitting in an aircraft together as they were about to board a flight. McGrath looks at Sachin, and they make eye contact.
The Australian approaches him for a conversation, to which the master blaster gives him a taunting look and does not reply. Seeing this, Glenn McGrath asks Sachin, "Are you still upset about the Adelaide dismissal?" As soon as he heard this, the batter quickly reaffirmed that he wasn't out, and McGrath already knew it.
Listening to this, the bowler doesn't even wait a second and pulls the phone out of his jacket, playing the video footage of the dismissal where the right-hander was given out shoulder-before-wicket in Adelaide's controversial dismissal. Looking at this, Sachin replies, "It's clearly not out, and you should get your eyes checked."
The legendary pacer replied, "How?" However, as soon as the quick confirms that his eyes are perfect, a lady enters and asks if he's in the right seat, to which he looks and confirms that this is his seat, which is 3B. Anyhow, it turns out that the seat was 3D, and the Australia great was mistaken for the wrong seat. He instantly gets up to move to another seat.
As soon as this happens, Sachin doesn't even waste a second and mocks his friend that he was telling him to get his eyes tested. Following which, both of them then move to Dr. Agarwal Eye Hospital, where McGrath receives the right treatment.
What Was The Incident They Were Talking About?
Talking about the incident, it was during the 1999 Adelaide Test when India and Australia were fighting tooth and nail against each other. During one moment, McGrath's delivery hit Tendulkar on his shoulder, and he was given out when ducking under the delivery. Umpire Daryl Harper didn't wait for anything, so he gave that out without much thought.
To this date, it has been a significant topic of contention between both nations, as players worldwide are still debating the legitimacy of the dismissal. Nonetheless, there is a lot of friendship and camaraderie between the two, who still share laughs during various events as their respect grows.
