India's legendary batter Virat Kohli aims to break Sachin Tendulkar's massive record in the first ODI against England. Led by Rohit Sharma, India are set to take on England in the first ODI of the much-awaited three-match series at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. Kohli will be one of the several players to join the team for the ODI leg alongside skipper Rohit and young batter Shubman Gill.

Virat Kohli Set To Break Sachin Tendulkar's Massive Record In 1st IND vs ENG ODI

Virat Kohli has been the backbone of India's batting lineup in ODI cricket. Considering the ODI series against England is India's final dress rehearsal for the Champions Trophy, Kohli would like to get some runs under his belt before the marquee event.

Meanwhile, Kohli is on the verge of eclipsing Tendulkar on an elite list. Regarded as the God of Cricket, Tendulkar has amassed 3990 runs in 90 international innings against England. On the other hand, Kohli has batted on 107 occasions, scoring 3979 runs against the Englishmen across all formats. Thus, Kohli needs only twelve runs in the first ODI to go past Tendulkar and record the most runs for India against England in international cricket.

Also, Kohli has eight hundreds and 23 fifties and needs only one century to register most fifty-plus scores by an Indian against England in international cricket. In fact, if he scores one fifty, he will break Tendulkar's record for the most half-centuries by an Indian against England.

Virat Kohli's Recent Form: A Concern For Team India?

Virat Kohli hasn't been at his best of late. The legendary cricketer failed with the bat in the Ranji Trophy, being dismissed for six runs by Himanshu Sangwan. So, he would be desperate to turn things around and emerge as India's match-winner in the England ODIs.
