Bangalore Bashers captain Abhishek Malhan recorded his second duck in the space of just three innings of the ongoing ECL 2024 season in Delhi. Batting at number five and taking strike against Lucknow Lions’ Ashish Kumar Meena, the cricketer made his way back to the sheds in just the second delivery of his innings.

Malhan’s latest failure was part of a major batting collapse within the Bashers camp, who slumped from 85-1 to 93-8 in front of rampaging Lucknow Lions bowlers.

Captain Malhan fails to rescue Bangalore Bashers

Bangalore Bashers captain Abhishek Malhan registered the second duck of his past three innings in the ongoing ECL 2024 season in Delhi. Batting at number five and arriving to the crease in the fifth over of the innings, Malhan was caught out by his Lucknow Lions counterpart Anurag Dwivedi off the bowling of Ashish Kumar Meena.

The timely breakthrough triggered widespread celebrations in the Lions camp, with captain Anurag Dwivedi himself reveling in glory while he was spotted being lifted by one of his teammates.

Earlier this season, the Bangalore Bashers skipper also registered a sluggish two-ball duck against Mumbai Disruptors. The cricketer has so far accrued just 29 runs from four innings of the ECL 2024 season at a dismal batting average of 7.25.

Abhishek Malhan’s early setback constituted a major part of the Bangalore Bashers’ batting collapse against Lucknow Lions. After Bashers lost opener Aryaman Pal for a first-ball duck, his partner Karanjeet Singh Shah (48 off 16) and Umang Sethi (40 off 13) shared a counterattacking 85-run partnership in just 24 balls.

However, Lucknow Lions bowlers fought back by claiming seven wickets for virtually nothing as the Bashers slipped to 85-1 to 93-8 in the space of just two overs. As many as eight batters from the Bashers line-up fell for ducks before getting levelled at 113 in 7.5 overs.

Among the Lucknow Lions bowlers, Ashish Kumar Meena picked up five wickets at an expense of just eight runs from his two overs. Harpal Saikia also struck thrice in his 1.5 overs.
