New Zealand captain, Kane Williamson has made significant strides in his recovery from the injury, as demonstrated by a video he posted on Instagram on Monday.

The star batsman, who sustained a ruptured ACL during the IPL 2023 opener, shared footage of himself batting in the nets which ignited hope among fans and teammates for his return to the pitch for the ICC World Cup 2023 in India.

In the video, the right-hander can be seen driving, punching, and cutting balls with finesse, showing his batting skills as he prepares for the marquee event scheduled for October-November in India. He captioned the post, "Nice to be back in the nets with the bat in hand for a few throws."

Williamson's injury occurred while fielding for Gujarat Titans during IPL 2023 opener against Chennai Super Kings on March 31. He underwent surgery in early April, and his successful rehabilitation has put him ahead of schedule in proving his fitness for World Cup 2023.

The video has delighted fans and experts alike, serving as a reassuring sign of Williamson's progress. The New Zealand skipper has been a vital component in the team's success, having played key roles in leading them to the final of both the 2015 and 2019 editions of the ODI World Cup. Although New Zealand fell short in both finals, Williamson's leadership and performance have been universally praised.

With 6554 runs in 161 ODIs at an impressive average of 47.83, including 42 fifties and 13 hundreds, Williamson's return to form would be a significant boost for the Kiwis. The Blackcaps stalwart, who made his debut too against India at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in 2010, has become one of the most celebrated batsmen in modern cricket.

Meanwhile, the Kiwi fans, and indeed the cricketing world, will be closely watching his progress, with high hopes for his participation in the World Cup 2023, a tournament where his batting and leadership could make a crucial difference.
