[Watch] Festivities Continue as Shaheen Afridi Hosts High-Profile Reception In Islamabad

The festivities in Shaheen Shah Afridi and Shahid Afridi continued as the son and father-in-law duo hosted a high-profile reception in Islamabad on Thursday evening. 

Pakistan pacer Shaheen married Shahid's daughter Ansha on September 19 in a private wedding ceremony in Karachi, followed by a Walima attended by close friends and relatives. The couple announced their union in February this year and have been engaged for two-odd years.

Dressed in an all-black three-piece suit as per rituals, Shaheen greeted the former and current Pakistan cricket and other prominent personalities who were in attendance with warm wishes and congratulatory messages. 

Pakistan's all-format skipper Babar Azam, all-rounder Shabad Khan, vice-captain Mohammed Rizwan, pacer Haris Rauf, and opener Imam-ul-Haq were in attendance. Others like Naseem Shah, Fakhar Zaman, and Usama Mir were also present.

Former Pakistan internationals Mohammad Yousuf and Shoaib Akhtar also graced the occasion apart from ex-Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman and national captain Ramiz Raja. 

Co-owner of Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Lahore Qalandars, Sameen Rana, and head coach and World Cup-winner Aaqib Javed could also be seen present at the affair.

As expected, Shaheen has been named in Pakistan's 15-man squad for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 beginning next month in India.

Pakistan start their campaign against the Netherlands on October 6 at Hyderabad, before Asian counterparts Sri Lanka and India on October 10 and 14, respectively.
