The Big Bash League is always packed with drama, but Match 12 between Perth Scorchers and Brisbane Heat gave us a moment that had nothing to do with cricket—and everything to do with love. Forget the big hits and wickets for a second, this was about a guy taking a big swing at his own happy ending.
Fan Shocks Everyone With Surprise Proposal During Big Bash Match
While the Perth Scorchers were grinding it out with the bat, a man in the crowd decided to make the night unforgettable. In the middle of all the cricket action, he dropped to one knee and popped the big question to his girlfriend. The answer? A massive yes. The couple shared a kiss right there in the stands, with the whole stadium cheering them on.
The cameras caught the sweet moment, and it was instantly beamed onto the big screen. Fans loved every bit of it, and social media wasn’t far behind.
The Big Bash League’s official X handle posted the clip, captioning it: “PROPOSAL AT THE BIG BASH Congratulations to the happy couple Good call from @BrettLee_58 too! #BBL14.”
Even Brett Lee, who was commentating, gave his seal of approval and showed that cricket truly brings people together, both on and off the field.
Perth’s Batting Had Its Moments Too
Coming to the game, after being asked to bat first, Perth Scorchers managed a respectable 165/6. It wasn’t all smooth sailing, though. Finn Allen fell for a duck early, leaving the team in a bit of a wobble. But the middle order chipped in to steady the ship. Matthew Hurst (28), Cooper Connolly (37), Aaron Hardie (24), and Ashton Turner (22) all played their parts.
Just when things looked like they’d end on a quiet note, Nick Hobson turned up the heat. He smashed an incredible 47 off just 16 balls, sending the crowd into a frenzy and giving Perth something solid to defend.
Brisbane almost Lose the contest
As the game headed into Brisbane Heat’s chase, they didn’t get off to the greatest start and lost wickets at regular intervals. The side needed 166 to beat the Scorchers, but none of their batters stood tall as the side has already lost 9 wickets and stare at an embarrassing defeat.
