In a significant development, India's rising star, Riyan Parag, has completed his rehabilitation and started batting practice on December 26. It is a major boost for Team India as Champions Trophy 2025 is around the corner, and they want all their players to be fit for the prestigious fifty-over event.
Parag Regains Full fitness
Notably, Parag was ruled out of the South Africa T20I series because of a chronic right shoulder injury. The budding all-rounder has been out of action for a long time, but he is now back in the nets and is sweating hard to return for the upcoming white-ball events ahead of Champions Trophy 2025.
Riyan Parag Impressed In Sri Lanka Series
Parag made his India debut in August 2024 when he featured against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka. So far, he has played just a solitary ODI but shone in that match. He couldn't do much with the bat, but was a star performer with the ball and took three wickets in that game.
Overall, he has played 10 matches for India across formats and has amassed 121 runs in seven innings. While Parag is yet to cement his place in the Indian team, he is definitely in contention for a place in the squad.
Besides India, the news of Parag's return to the nets is also positive news for Rajasthan Royals as the inaugural winners had retained him for a whopping 14 crores to avail his services for IPL 2025.
It is to be seen when will the NCA give a green light to Parag to feature in domestic games and also for the Indian team. It is worth noting that Mohammad Shami is still struggling to return to his full fitness and it has been over a year since he played for India.
