The Sydney Sixers are on fire, extending their winning streak to three matches by comfortably chasing down 195 runs to beat the Melbourne Stars by eight wickets in the Big Bash League at the SCG. This win also sets a new record for the highest successful run chase at this venue, all thanks to James Vince, who smashed a massive 101 off 58 deliveries to obliterate the Melbourne Stars bowlers.

While Vince has contributed with the bat modestly in his first two matches, the quickfire against Melbourne Stars was the heat that the team was lacking. Coming in as an opener in the chase, 4 massive sixes, and 12 boundaries to beat the helpless Stars bowlers as the Sixers sit at the top of the BBL points table.

Vince's Violent Spree Cripples Melbourne Stars

Speaking of the match, the Stars began well with Ben Duckett blasting 68 off 29 balls, including six consecutive boundaries. However, his dismissal slowed their momentum, and despite solid contributions from Glenn Maxwell (32) and Marcus Stoinis (20), the Sixers’ bowlers, led by Jackson Bird (3/35), restricted them to 194/9. Todd Murphy and Ben Dwarshius also took two wickets each, ensuring a dominant performance from the Sixers.

The Sixers made a strong start, with openers Josh Philippe and James Vince putting on 83 for the first wicket. Vince was aggressive, reaching his half-century in 38 balls, and together with Jordan Silk, they accelerated during the Power Surge, scoring 35 runs off the 14th over.

Vince finished with an impressive 101 off 58 balls, while Silk remained unbeaten on 34. The Sixers, therefore, chased down 195 in 18.5 overs, winning by eight wickets as Melbourne Stars rode on their losing thread of four consecutive losses.

Vince's BBL Career

James Vince has been quite a force as an opener over the years, especially in the BBL scene. The seasoned English player has taken part in 74 BBL matches, racking up a solid 2088 runs with a strike rate of 132.4. His average sits at 32.1, and he's notched up 10 half-centuries along the way.
