India’s young star Abhishek Sharma is having the time of his life, both on and off the field. The opening batsman played an important role in leading India to the 2025 Asia Cup title, just days before the wedding of his sister.

Abhishek was declared Player of the Tournament for his aggressive batting. He had scored more than 300 runs in 7 innings at a strike rate of 200, giving India fiery starts in almost every game. 

His consistency set the tone for India’s success, and his performance in the final cemented his reputation as one of the most exciting young cricketers in the country. 

Abhishek Sharma’s sister receives the best wedding gift

While his cricketing journey reached a new high, celebrations at home have doubled. Abhishek’s sister, Komal Sharma, is set to get married soon, making the victory even more special for the family. 

Speaking to ANI, Komal said she had secretly wished for this win as a wedding gift. She attended all the games with great enthusiasm and was proud to see his brother serve the county.

 "It is a matter of pride that my brother Abhishek has won the Asia Cup tournament. We have brought the trophy home, and we are all very happy. I really wanted this gift from my brother before my marriage. I knew deep inside that India was going to win this," Komal said.

Abhishek’s parents are equally delighted. His father, Raj Kumar Sharma, called the Man of the Tournament award a huge achievement, while his mother, Manju, expressed how proud and happy the entire family is.

Overall, for Abhishek Sharma, the Asia Cup win is a career-defining moment. For his sister Komal, it is the perfect gift ahead of her wedding.

Who is Komal Sharma?

Komal Sharma is the elder sister of Abhishek Sharma. She is a qualified physiotherapist by profession. She completed a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, followed by a Master’s in Orthopaedics from NIMS University, Jaipur.

Komal is often seen publicly supporting her brother at matches, cheering him on. In June 2025, she got engaged to Lovish Oberoi in a private ceremony held in Shimla, attended by close friends and family.
