Cricket fans at Old Trafford were left confused and amazed during Day 5 of the ongoing Manchester Test between India and England. But it wasn’t just the action on the field grabbing attention; it was someone in the crowd who looked exactly like global music superstar Ed Sheeran.
The fourth Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy went down to the wire after Indian batters fought back in response to England’s mega 311-run lead. Shubman Gill and KL Rahul knitted a 188-run partnership, followed by another gritty resistance from Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar.
Ed Sheeran Lookalike Sparks Fan Frenzy At Old Trafford
Meanwhile, to witness the intense action on the field, popular singer Ed Sheeran was spotted at the Old Trafford stadium. Fans recognised him and mobbed him for selfies.
However, it turns out he wasn’t the real and actual Ed Sheeran. The man, dressed in a pink shirt with grey hair, was a doppelganger. His face with a pair of sunglasses appeared a spitting image of the popular singer, and fans, along with commentators, were equally confused.

Photos and videos of the “fake Ed Sheeran” quickly spread online, with fans joking that Sheeran had taken a break from his tour to enjoy some cricket. Some even posted side-by-side images comparing the two, and honestly, it was hard to tell the difference.
That being said, team India are putting up a brave fight to draw the Manchester Test and stay alive in the series. The trail is now wiped out with 6 wickets and a session in hand.
England will be on the losing side if the match ends in a draw. They put 669 runs in the second inning in response to India’s 358 in the first inning. Despite having a 311-run lead and dismantling India’s top order for 0/2, the hosts are unable to cross the finish line.
