Gill walked to bat when India were 0/2 and batted for the entire Day 4. The India captain took 228 deliveries to reach the milestone. Further, Shubman joined an elite list as he became the first Indian cricketer in the last 35 years to score a century at Old Trafford.

Also, Gill became the ninth Indian to get a three-figure score at Old Trafford in Manchester. Notably, Sachin Tendulkar was the last Indian to slammed a hundred in 1990, which was also his maiden ton in international cricket. Here is the complete list.

Shubman Gill Joins The 700 Runs Club

With the century-run knock, Shubman Gill also completed 700 runs in the series and joined an elite list of players to have 700+ runs in a Test series. Notably, the India captain is only the third Indian after Sunil Gavaskar, and Yashasvi Jaiswal to etch this milestone.

Further, Gavaskar is the only Indian cricketer to have 700+ runs in a series twice, a feat he achieved against West Indies in his initial years.

It is not the end of Gill's tryst with records as the right-handed batter slammed his fourth hundred by a captain in an away series. He is the first Indian in 47 years to achieve this feat as the only other Indian to do so is Sunil Gavaskar.

Overall, only three cricketers have emulated this feat, which includes the like of Don Bradman.
