Virat Kohli has invested Rs 40 crore in Agilitas Sports, a venture started by former Puma India head Abhishek Ganguly. As part of this move, Agilitas is taking over One8, a sportswear brand with which Kohli was associated.
Virat Kohli ended his long-term association with Puma earlier this year, becoming both an investor in Agilitas and a co-founder of the One8 brand.
Agilitas Sports aims to set up One8 as a leading sports brand
The company aims to rapidly build a leading Indian high-performance sportswear label. Ganguly said Agilitas will reposition One8 as India's leading homegrown high-performance sports brand, geared for global markets.
"The plan is to compete with top international brands across footwear, apparel, accessories and sporting goods - and across multiple sports categories rather than a single discipline. Commercially, One8 will launch with an omnichannel approach - an e-commerce store and app will go live first," said Ganguly.
Virat Kohli’s legacy of One8 brand
Launched in 2017, Virat Kohli's One8 brand began as a co-created partnership with Puma. This eight-year agreement, valued at around ₹110 crore, established its initial range of athleisure wear, footwear, and accessories.
The brand later diversified beyond sportswear. It entered the fragrance segment in 2018 and expanded into the hospitality sector with the One8 Commune restaurant chain. Managed by a separate company named True Palate Hospitality, this chain has grown to over 16 locations across India.
Centred on fitness and a youthful energy, the brand's name and identity are personally connected to Kohli, drawing directly from his iconic jersey number 18.
Nevertheless, after the major brand collab, Agilitas Sports will be reshaping the brand with its aim to make it a leader in sports wear and accessories in India, as the restaurant chains will continue to operate independently.
