In an unexpected turn of events, a delivery boy of Swiggy Genie, which is a third party delivery platform, apparently stole two tickets of the England vs India 1st T20I game ordered by Pataal Lok actor Swastika Mukherjee. The actress raised the issue on social media and spread awareness against such scammers.
The anticipation around the India-England T20I series reached its peak when the series opener was held at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The hosts beat the visitors in a one-sided contest, taking a 1-0 lead in the five-game series.
However, the first T20I game has landed in controversy as scams over tickets have come to light.
Indian actress' India-England match tickets stolen
Actress Swastika Mukherjee, popular for her role in web series ‘Pataal Lok,’ shared a detailed Instagram post where she claimed that two match tickets were scheduled to be delivered within Kolkata by Swiggy genie driver.
She ordered those tickets for her father-in-law who is a passionate cricket fan and travelled all the way from Kanpur to Kolkata to watch the game.
However, the delivery agent apparently blocked her mid-route and marked the order as delivered without completing the task. She accused the driver of stealing both the tickets.
Mukherjee also complained that Swiggy was not taking any action despite having all the details to trace the accused. She asked her fans to share the incident so that it would not be repeated with anyone else.
Social media users quickly voiced their grievances, with many recounting negative experiences involving Swiggy Genie. Several people reported thefts of expensive items, unresponsive agents, and unresolved complaints.
Even though Swiggy did not make a comment about the incident, this has served as a wake-up call for the delivery platforms to take reliability and customer trust very seriously so as to avoid their erosion in the market.
