It was a night to remember at the Wankhede Stadium as Suryakumar Yadav once again proved why he is Mumbai Indians’ (MI) biggest match-winner in IPL. With the playoffs on the line, Surya delivered a breathtaking unbeaten 73 off just 43 balls, powering MI to a competitive 180/5 in their final group stage clash. 

His innings, filled with flair and finesse, featured seven fours and four towering sixes, showcasing his sublime touch and remarkable consistency this season.

However, it was not just his bat that made headlines. It was also Surya’s joyous bhangra dance  that lit up the Wankhede crowd. The clip of the Mumbai star breaking into Punjabi dance moves quickly went viral on social media. As the clip went viral, fans also compared his dance moves to that of Virat Kohli, who is often seen enjoying his time in the field with his moves.

After his significant contribution, he was also awarded the Player of the Match. In the post-match presentation, Suryakumar said that the recognition held special meaning for him and he wants to dedicate this award to his wife. 

 Surya’s Stellar IPL 2025 Season

Suryakumar Yadav’s form in IPL 2025 has been nothing short of extraordinary. In 13 matches, he has amassed 583 runs at an astonishing average of 72.88 and a blazing strike-rate of 170.47. His tally also includes four fifties. With MI heading into the playoffs, the team will be banking on their talisman to maintain this momentum.

Mumbai Indian's Playoff Picture Brightens

With this win, MI confirmed their place in the IPL 2025 playoffs, joining RCB, GT, and PBKS. Although currently placed fourth with 16 points, MI boast the best Net Run Rate (1.292) among all other teams. It is important to note that this could give them a crucial advantage and strong mathematical chance of finishing at the top of the table, depending on the remaining results.
