Pakistan's T20I squad commenced their US tour with a unique beach training session in Lauderhill, Florida, on Tuesday, July 29. Players, including pace spearheads Shaheen Afridi, Hasan Ali, and Haris Rauf, were seen performing drills and exercises on the sand ahead of their three-match series against the West Indies.
This seaside session followed an earlier, more conventional three-hour practice at the Central Broward Park & Broward County Stadium. Under the coaching staff's supervision, the players undertook.
Shaheen & Co. Practice Drill On The Beach!
Notably, the beach session saw Shaheen Afridi leading the pack with explosive training exercises specially tailored for fast bowlers. Afridi, along with his teammates, was seen jogging around, doing touch downs and doing multiple drills with props on an open beach in Lauderhill, soaking up both the sun and the energy ahead of their tour.
The beach session was more of an unsupervised drill to relax and cool down after heavy net sessions at the Central Broward Park & Broward County Stadium. Notably, the strong Pakistan squad for the Caribbean tour is ready and setting the tone for a massive battle against a West Indies side that recently suffered a whitewash against Australia.
Afridi To Script Massive Comeback Against The Windies?
Notably, Shaheen Afridi is making his comeback after a poor start to his 2025 season and after an initial drop from the team. His comeback marks Pakistan's renewed faith in the pacer who is set to bolster his recent white-ball stats in the West Indies tour.
As the West Indies tour is set to begin from August 1, Afridi, who is making a comeback after a brief period of rest, will need to play with his variations on flat USA pitches, especially after his sub-par return in away games and on inexperienced USA pitch.
However, Afridi has the potential to become Pakistan's most potent weapon during both the powerplay and middle overs. While Haris Rauf has some experience with American pitches in MLC 2025, Afridi might feel exposed while bowling in front of Caribbean firepowers.
