Travel platform EaseMyTrip has pulled its sponsorship from the high-profile India vs Pakistan semi-final at the World Championship of Legends (WCL) following the Pahalgam terror attack. Co-founder Nishant Pitti announced the decision on social media.

Citing national interest, Pitti said that "terror and cricket cannot coexist." The move comes as India Champions prepare to face Pakistan Champions in the tournament featuring retired cricket stars.

Pitti's Nationalistic Stand Against Cricket Diplomacy

In a detailed social media post titled "India vs Pakistan – WCL Semi-Final," Pitti outlined the company's position.

“We applaud Team India @India_Champions for their outstanding performance... However, the upcoming semi-final against Pakistan is not just another game. Terror and cricket cannot go hand in hand... EaseMyTrip will not be associated with the India vs Pakistan match... Nation first, business later. Always. Jai Hind,” Pitti wrote on his official X handle.

The decision references the recent attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Baisaran valley that claimed 26 civilian lives. EaseMyTrip had been an official tournament sponsor prior to this withdrawal.

India's Path to High-Stakes Semi-Final

The India Champions secured their semi-final berth with a dominant 13.2-over chase against West Indies Champions, propelled by Stuart Binny's Player of the Match half-century and contributions from Yuvraj Singh and Yusuf Pathan. Their tournament journey included earlier losses to South Africa, Australia, and England before the crucial win lifted them from the bottom of the table.

The WCL, a global T20 competition featuring retired legends, has drawn significant attention with national teams like England Champions and Australia Champions participating alongside the subcontinental rivals.

Commercial and Diplomatic Repercussions

This boycott mirrors EaseMyTrip's previous nationalist business strategies and could influence other sponsors amid heightened cross-border tensions. While the match will proceed as scheduled, the withdrawal impacts the tournament's commercial dynamics to a great extent.

The development follows recent political statements questioning India-Pakistan sporting ties, including Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi's Lok Sabha remarks opposing September's Asia Cup clash between the nations.
