Sarfaraz Khan has been roped in by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise for next year’s IPL 2026 season. The Mumbai run-machine was acquired by the CSK owners and team management on the day of the IPL 2026 auction for a sum of Rs. 75 lakhs.

Notably, he last played IPL cricket back in 2023 for the Delhi Capitals before missing the subsequent two editions of the tournament. Khan’s CSK ascension also occurred shortly after he bludgeoned an electrifying 22-ball 73 against Rajasthan in the 2025-26 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy season.

Sarfaraz Khan reaches seventh heaven after late CSK pick

Sarfaraz Khan is heading to CSK franchise next year for the IPL 2026 season, as the 28-year-old secured a Rs. 75 lakh deal with them on Tuesday, December 16, i.e., on the day of the auction. Khan celebrated the occasion by sharing a jubilant clip on his social media.

Taking to his Instagram story, the cricketer shared a movie clip where an actor is seen breaking into an exuberant celebration, mirroring the batter’s own emotions after sealing the CSK move.

While Sarfaraz Khan has not played a single IPL game since 2023 for the Delhi Capitals, the prodigious batting talent has been in exceptional form with the bat for Mumbai in the ongoing 2025-26 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

The right-hander tonked a 47-ball century in a match-winning cause earlier in the tournament, and also scored a fiery 52 against Kerala in Lucknow. A few days ago, Sarfaraz Khan smeared 64 runs from just 25 balls and composed an exhilarating match-winning partnership with opener Yashasvi Jaiswal as Mumbai gunned down Haryana’s record 235-run target with 15 balls and four wickets to spare.
