Shubman Gill once again took centerstage for Team India as one of the two openers alongside Abhishek Sharma in the third T20I of the five-match series against Australia. Chasing a monumental 187 for a win to level the series, Gill started off with a cracking boundary as India raced to a blazing powerplay score.

Notably, Shubman Gill’s elegant powerplay strokes were even witnessed first-hand by Sara Tendulkar, who lent her support for the ‘Men in Blue’ from the stands of the Bellerive Oval in Hobart on Sunday, November 2.

Sara Tendulkar steals limelight during Gill’s knock

Internet personality and Sachin Tendulkar’s daughter Sara Tendulkar attended the Bellerive Oval in Hobart on November 2 to extend her support for the Indian team in the all-important third T20I of the five-match series.

After Australia mounted 186-6 early in the game, Indian openers Abhishek Sharma and vice-captain Shubman Gill walked out to the middle with hopes of conquering Australian bowlers in the powerplay overs. As Gill was demonstrating his elegant stroke-play in the innings, the cameras frequently panned towards the stands, where Sara Tendulkar’s presence effortlessly drew the spotlight.

Rumoured to be Shubman Gill’s ‘friend’ for quite some time, Sara’s appearance added a touch of star power to the high-octane contest as the evening’s focus subtly shifted between Gill’s fluent strokes and her graceful presence in the stands.

Unfortunately for Sara Tendulkar and Indian fans, Shubman Gill failed to make the most of his cracking start as the blistering opener was dismissed for just 15 from 12 balls by Nathan Ellis. Gill’s departure ensured Team India slip to 61-2 in 5.3 overs in their tall chase of 187 runs.
