RCB Ownership: Who is Vijay Kiragandur? (Source: X.com@iAklesh)
Only a season after their maiden IPL trophy in 2025, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is up for sale. In a fully confirmed development, as of November 5, 2025 United Spirits Limited (the current RCB Owner) has decided to review its investment in Royal Challengers Sports Pvt Ltd, the Diageo-owned subsidiary.
Notably, over the past few days, netizens have opined Hombale Films - the makers of KGF and Kantara - as the subsequent owners of RCB.
Although no further development has been confirmed from either of the parties, let's strip away the noise and see who this billion-rupee film maker is and how he changed the Indian cinema.
Who is Vijay Kiragandur?
Born on 3 October 1976 in Bengaluru, Karnataka, Vijay Kiragandur is an Indian film producer and distributor, predominantly active in the Kannada film industry.
In 2012, Vijay teamed up with Chaluve Gowda to form Hombale Films — a production house that wanted to do more than merely “make movies”. The mission was crystal clear: create cinema that makes Karnataka proud while speaking to audiences across India.
Soon Kiragandur, turned his homegrown dream into a reality and set out to reshape Indian cinema with blockbusters like KGF, Kantara, and Salaar. As per HT, the 49-year-old holds an estimated net-worth of a whopping Rs 3,000 crore, and, if the reports are to be believed, he may become the new owner of Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Is Hombale Films the new RCB Owner?
Vijay Kiragandur's name entered the scene when fans engaged with viral "Hombale & RCB" posters and chatter, wondering if the two mighties will come together.
Moreover, it is essential to note that there has been a genuine commercial link between the two. Hombale has been RCB’s official digital content partner since 2023, producing cinematic promos and engagement films around the franchise.
Now, as the ownership talks spread like wildfire, if those links are put together, it is safe to say that the collaboration will be a 'blockbuster'.
No doubt, with the deep local roots and a proven storytelling record, Hombale's entry to RCB ownership sale talks could mark a transformative era for RCB ahead of IPL 2026.
That all being said, if we look deeper and try to find answers, the sales process is still stuck in the rumours. Hence, until someone official speaks on record, it just stays as floating noise.
