Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) explosive opener Phil Salt caused a light-hearted stir with his unexpected comment about Virat Kohli. In a recent interview with RCB’s in-house entertainer Mr Nags, Salt jokingly claimed that he and Kohli are “just colleagues,” before quickly reversing his stance.
Phil Salt Makes ‘Colleague’ Remark On Virat Kohli
The England batter, who was bought for a hefty Rs 11.5 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction, was asked about his relationship with Kohli during a quirky segment on RCB’s official social media.
Mr Nags reminded Phil Salt of a previous remark where he said, “There are no friends in the IPL,” and then asked whether that applied to his dynamic with Kohli.
Salt coolly responded, “Colleagues,” prompting a surprised reaction. However, moments later, the 28-year-old clarified with a grin, “Everybody that I have played cricket with is a friend of mine. I just did not want to give you any extra ammunition in this interview.”
Host: You said that there are no friends in the IPL in one of your interviews. So when you are out playing with Virat, are you friends with him or are you not?
Salt: Colleagues.
RCB Dominating Performance In IPL 2025
Meanwhile, on the field, RCB continue to shine in IPL 2025. On Sunday, April 27, the Bengaluru side registered another comprehensive victory, beating Delhi Capitals by six wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
Delhi Capitals posted a modest total of 163, which RCB chased down comfortably in 18.3 overs. Virat Kohli made a well-paced 51 runs, while Krunal Pandya remained unbeaten on 76, guiding the team to win.
RCB Strong Contenders For Playoffs
The Rajat Patidar-led side now sits at the top of the points table with strong momentum. Interestingly, five of their six wins have come in away fixtures. With two more away games and three home fixtures remaining, they are well-positioned for a top-two finish and a smooth path into the playoffs.
Their next test will be against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on May 3 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
