Days after CSK finished at the bottom of the IPL 2025 points table, captain MS Dhoni was spotted fishing. His t-shirt had a patriotic and powerful message that quickly caught the fans’ attention.
Chennai Super Kings had a season to forget in 2025. The team, one of the most successful in IPL history, finished last on the points table for the first time, with just 4 wins in 14 matches.
Dhoni, the stand-in captain, scored 196 runs at an average of 24.50 and a strike rate of 135.17 but was often criticised for batting too low in the order.
MS Dhoni Unwinds After Disappointing IPL Season
With IPL 2025 league stages done, MS Dhoni was seen relaxing recently by going fishing, and a photo of him wearing a special T-shirt has gone viral on social media.
In the picture, Dhoni is seen wearing a shirt with the powerful words: “Duty, Honour, Country.” The phrase quickly caught fans’ attention, as it reflects Dhoni’s deep respect and love for the Indian Army.

Dhoni has the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Parachute Regiment of the Indian Territorial Army. He was awarded the title in 2011 and even trained as a paratrooper. In 2019, he served with the Victor Force in Kashmir for 15 days, taking a break from cricket to fulfil his army duties.
This comes amid retirement buzz surrounding Dhoni. After CSK’s final game, he didn’t confirm his retirement from the IPL. He simply said he would take 4–5 months off, assess his body, and then make a decision about his future.
Dhoni Confirms Leaving Captaincy In IPL 2026
Meanwhile, MS Dhoni has officially confirmed that Ruturaj Gaikwad will lead Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2026. After the last match of the 2025 season, Dhoni indicated that Gaikwad would come back as the captain and have a nicely balanced squad. This year, Gaikwad was down with elbow injury and got ruled out of the season. Hence, Dhoni stepped in as stand-in skipper for CSK.
