However, not many are privy to the significant role played by his elder sister, Jayanti Gupta, in shaping his glorious career. Born to Pan Singh Dhoni and Devaki Devi, Jayanti is believed to be around 3-4 years elder to the iconic cricket star.

When Dhoni first entertained the dream of playing for India, it was his sister who stood by him, encouraging him to chase his passion, even in the face of their father's initial skepticism.

Despite the legendary cricketer's colossal fame and a staggering net worth crossing Rs 1000 crore, his sister consciously chooses a life of quietude, away from the glaring media attention. 

According to reports, Jayanti is an English teacher in a reputed public school in Ranchi, offering a stark contrast to her brother's glamorous life.

Dhoni's sister’s personal life is as endearing as her supportive role in the Indian stalwart's journey. She is married to Gautam Gupta, one of Dhoni's oldest friends from Ranchi. 

During the wicketkeeper-batter's budding days as a state and district player, Gautam was there, rooting and helping for him, a friendship that has remained strong till date.

Meanwhile, having retired from international cricket in 2019, Dhoni continues to make his mark in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as the captain of Chennai Super Kings, amassing an annual income of about Rs 50 crore.

Recently, after leading CSK to a record fifth IPL title win in the 2023 season, the Indian veteran underwent knee surgery and has been in the process of recovery at his residence in Ranchi.
