Fans demand refunds after fog washes out the 4th T20I
Since the T20I series between India and South Africa started, fans have been enjoying an intense battle of the shortest format. After Team India pulled off a convincing victory in the third T20I in Dharamsala, both teams were set to face each other in another thrilling contest in Lucknow.
Fans gathered in large numbers in the stadium to experience the T20 thrills live, but fate had other plans. Due to excessive fog, the match was abandoned without a ball bowled. The match officials tried their best, but six different inspections failed to start the game. When the final check at 9:25 PM sealed the abandonment, disappointment quickly turned into anger among the waiting crowd.
Fans were shattered and voiced strong disappointment after the match was called off. Speaking to ANI, a fan said, “I sold three sacks of wheat and came here to watch the match. I want my money back.”
That was not the end, as another fan said, “It would have been better if the match had been scheduled earlier in the day. Tickets and reimbursement are irrelevant. We wanted to see the match, see our Indian cricket team.”
Do-or-die clash awaits in the final T20I
As the T20 World Cup is inching closer, each T20I clash has become extremely crucial for each team. Serving as a crucial dress rehearsal, the India-South Africa series has already delivered gripping white-ball action. After India started the series with a dominating victory, the Proteas leveled the series with a stunning victory in the second match.
In the third T20I match in Dharamsala, the Men in Blue registered a stunning 7-wicket victory, taking a 2-1 lead in the five-match T20I series. After the fourth match of the series ended up with disappointment, the upcoming 5th clash has become the ultimate decider.
As the home side is already holding the advantage, a win in the next match can seal the series in their favor in a 3-1 margin. South Africa, however, has a chance to force a dramatic series tie with a convincing victory. As the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium is set to host the next clash, the world is awaiting for another thriller.
