Recently, India star cricketer Virat Kohli accidentally liked a photo of actress Avneet Kaur on Instagram, which caused a big stir online. Many people started gossiping about it, leading Kohli to publicly explain that it was just a mistake and probably caused by Instagram’s algorithm.

Bollywood Actress Rakul Preet Defends Virat Kohli

Actress Rakul Preet Singh spoke out about the situation during a podcast with Shubankar Mishra. She defended Virat Kohli and said it’s sad how much attention people are giving to such a small issue.

Rakul said it’s shocking that people care so much about whether the like was on purpose or not. She mentioned that after the like, Avneet gained 2 million new followers, but questioned why that even matters. According to Rakul, it’s common to accidentally like or unfollow things on Instagram, and it’s unfair that celebrities get judged for every little action.

"Too sad yaar. That is too sad. Hum bohot vele hain (we are so jobless), that we even know that his like increased 2 million followers for her. How does it matter if he liked or didn’t or it happened by mistake. It often happens on Instagram that you unfollow friends by mistake. It’s so sad that just because he’s a celebrity, what he likes, doesn’t like turns into news," she said.

For those who don’t know, Kohli’s Instagram account liked a post from an Avneet Kaur fan page. Even though the like was later removed, screenshots of it spread quickly. Kohli then issued a statement saying it was unintentional and asked people not to overthink it. Despite his explanation, the internet didn’t stop talking.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli is currently playing in the IPL 2025 for Royal Challengers Bengaluru and is doing really well, scoring 614 runs in 14 matches, making him one of the top contenders for the Orange Cap.

On the other hand, Rakul Preet Singh will be seen next in ‘De De Pyaar De 2’ with Ajay Devgn and ‘Indian 3’ with Kamal Haasan.
