Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir has attended the revered Maa Kamakhya temple in Guwahati, Assam. One can assume that the former Indian cricketer visited the temple in a bid to seek divine blessings for the national team just ahead of the high-stakes five-match Test series in England next month.

The series against England will mark India’s first Test assignment since the triple retirements of decade-long red-ball heroes Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and legendary all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin.

Gautam Gambhir seeks spiritual edge

In a viral video circulating on social media on Monday, May 26, Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir can be seen attending Maa Kamakhya temple in Assam. The temple is among the most prominent Shakti Peeths in the country, and is attended by scores of followers due to its religious significance.

Gautam Gambhir will join a new-look Indian team following the conclusion of the ongoing IPL 2025 season. A few days ago, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) named an 18-player Indian squad for the Test series in England next month.

Shubman Gill was appointed as new Test captain, while blistering wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has been named as his deputy. Here is a look at the entire Indian team for the five-match Test series.

Indian Team for England Test series:

Shubman Gill (c), Rishabh Pant (vc), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Karun Nair, Nitish Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhruv Jurel, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Akash Deep, Arshdeep Singh and Kuldeep Yadav.

The first Test between India and hosts England will be played between June 20 and June 24 at Headingley in Leeds. The five-match series will also constitute a part of the 2025-27 WTC cycle.
