RCB's historic victory against PBKS in the IPL 2025 final ended their 18-year title drought, and the franchise decided to celebrate with its fans in a grand parade event in Bengaluru. Unfortunately, the celebratory mood was shattered when overcrowding outside Chinnaswamy Stadium led to a stampede that killed 11 people and injured several.

After the incident, several rumours have been circulating related and one such is that IPL's official account on Instagram has unfollowed RCB. So in this article, let's take a look at whether actually IPL has unfollowed RCB.

Has IPL Unfollowed RCB On Instagram?

Several posts online claim this is the first step toward the franchise being banned for a season, with some users drawing parallels to past incidents involving CSK and RR.

Fact Check: It is important to note that IPL’s Instagram account shows that they are still following RCB's official account. There is no digital indication that the league has distanced itself from the 2025 champions. The claim appears to be baseless and part of a larger wave of misinformation.

Is RCB Facing A Ban? What BCCI Can and Can’t Do

While the ban rumours are untrue at this point, the possibility of disciplinary action cannot be entirely ruled out in the long run. The IPL franchises operate as commercial entities but are subject to strict BCCI regulations, especially regarding public safety and conduct.

The ongoing investigation will determine whether RCB, as an organizer or participant in the celebration event, failed to adhere to any safety protocols. If found guilty under any clause in the BCCI’s code of conduct or franchise agreements, the board does have the authority to take action.

Lastly, it can be concluded that as of now, there has been no official statement from the BCCI suggesting that RCB is under disciplinary review, nor any intent to ban the team from future IPL seasons.
