Bengaluru Stampede Update: Relief For RCB As No FIR Registered Against Virat Kohli

RCB's celebrations turned tragic on June 4 when 11 people were killed outside Chinnaswamy Stadium following a stampede. The unfortunate incident has been the talk of the town for the past few days and recently former India captain Virat Kohli also faced the backlash for multiple reasons. 

No FIR Against Virat Kohli

A section of fans had misdirected their anger towards Kohli as there were reports that a senior star wanted the felicitation ceremony on the next day following the completion of IPL. Also the news of Virat flying to Mumbai from Bengaluru irked a few fans. Meanwhile, there were reports that an FIR has been filed against the right-handed batter in the view of the recent tragedy. However, in the latest development, it can be confirmed that there has been no FIR filed against Kohli. 

Bengaluru police confirmed that they only have received a complaint and no FIR has been filed against Virat Kohli. “The complaint will be examined as part of the ongoing investigation under an already registered case," a senior police official said, adding that the matter remains under detailed review. Meanwhile, News18 reported that Bengaluru police clarified that there is no FIR. 

KSCA Officials Resign After The Incident

Recently, Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) secretary A Shankar and treasurer E Jairam tendered their resignations with immediate effect on Friday night. It is followed by an FIR was registered at Cubbon Park Police Station, naming RCB, KSCA president Raghuram Bhat, and event management company DNA Entertainment among the accused for alleged lapses in crowd and gate management.

Meanwhile, a political battle continues in Bengaluru as the blame games continue between the government, police officials, and also RCB management. Recently, the police also arrested RCB's head of marketing from the airport as he was looking to fly out of Bengaluru.
