A tense moment unfolded at the Ekana Stadium on Friday night when Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star batter Virat Kohli was struck on the helmet during a high-pressure match against SRH. While Kohli quickly regained composure and continued his innings, it was his wife, actor Anushka Sharma’s reaction from the stands that captured hearts and went viral across social media.
Anushka Sharma Left Worried For Virat Kohli
Anushka is often present in the stands during Kohli’s matches and was in Lucknow last night to support her husband and RCB. In a widely shared pictures, she can be seen visibly distressed the moment the ball hit Kohli’s helmet. Her hands flew to her face, her expression filled with anxiety as she watched events unfold on the field.
Kohli, known for his resilience , showed no signs of discomfort after the blow and resumed play shortly after a brief check by the team physio. However, the emotional reaction from Anushka soon took the center stage.
The duo got married in 2017 and since then are among India’s most admired celebrity couples. They are parents to daughter Vamika and son Akaay and are often seen attending spiritual retreats and offering prayers together.
The most recent one included a recent visit to Premanand Maharaj in Vrindavan following Kohli’s retirement from Test cricket earlier this year.
RCB’s Playoff Bid Hits Roadblock
Despite Kohli’s valiant effort, RCB suffered a crushing 42-run defeat to SRH in their penultimate league match of the season. Chasing a daunting target of 232, RCB got off to a decent start but crumbled after losing quick wickets. However, this loss has dented RCB’s hopes of finishing in the top two, pushing them into a must-win scenario for their final league game.
While the result was a setback, Kohli’s form remains a bright spot for the franchise as they approach the business end of the tournament. It is important to note that Kohli has been in stellar form this season and has scored 548 runs in 12 matches at an average of 60.88 and a strike rate of 145.35 so far.
