The Ireland cricket team has scripted history by setting a world record in Test cricket. They  became the fastest team to achieve three consecutive Test victories. Their historic win over Zimbabwe in the one-off Test at Bulawayo, which saw them chase down 292 to win by 63 runs, was their third Test victory in just ten matches.

Ireland Makes History

This remarkable feat breaks South Africa’s previous record of 14 Tests to complete a hat-trick of wins. Ireland's journey to this success has been nothing but spectacular. Starting by playing their first Test in 2018, the team had to endure an initial tough time, losing all seven of them.

From Rags To Riches

But everything changed in 2023 as they pulled off a hat-trick of triumphs: six wickets against Afghanistan at Abu Dhabi, four wickets against Zimbabwe in Belfast, and this victory in Bulawayo. This is from seven successive defeats to a record-breaking run; a swift rise to the top in a unique record.

The win was also marked by a standout performance from left-arm spinner Matthew Humphreys, who took 6-57, his career-best figures, to lead Ireland's bowling attack. His efforts, alongside those of Andy McBrine, who finished the game by dismissing Richard Ngarava, secured Ireland's place in history.
