The excitement is building as the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 is set to get underway in the United Arab Emirates from October 3 to 20. Ten of the world’s best cricket teams will compete for the prestigious trophy, and India is ready to make its mark. As anticipation grows, Bollywood superstar Alia Bhatt has stepped up to cheer on our Women in Blue.

Recently, Star Sports, the official broadcaster for the Women’s T20 World Cup, shared an inspiring message from Alia Bhatt aimed at Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, and the entire team. In her heartfelt address, Alia encouraged fans with the phrase, 

“We are going to create history!”

Alia’s message resonated with fans, reminding everyone of the passion and hard work that goes into the game. The Women in Blue will face New Zealand on October 4 in their first fixture.

The tournament will be held at the iconic Sharjah Cricket Stadium, where each team will play two warm-up games starting on September 28. India is in Group A and will face some tough opponents.

After the match against New Zealand, they’ll take on their arch-rivals, Pakistan, on October 6. Following that, they’ll clash with Sri Lanka and Australia, hoping to secure a spot in the semi-finals.

Originally set to take place in Bangladesh, the event was relocated to the UAE due to civil unrest in the country. 

ICC Reveals All-Female Panel Of Match Officials For Women's T20 WC 2024

On Tuesday, September 24, the International Cricket Council (ICC) revealed an all-female panel of 10 umpires and three match referees for the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, set to take place in the UAE. 

Sean Easey, ICC's Senior Manager of Umpires and Referees, expressed pride in this milestone, stating, “The ICC is proud to be contributing to the advancement of women in our sport. To be announcing this all-female lineup of match officials for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 is wonderful."

The upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup will feature 10 teams battling it out in 23 matches for the coveted trophy. The tournament kicks off on October 3 in Sharjah, starting with a match between Bangladesh and Scotland.
