Abhishek Bachchan, Saiyami Kher Starrer Cricket-Based Sports Drama Movie 'Ghoomer' Shows Promise As Trailer Drops

Two of the most loved industries in India, Cricket and Entertainment join hands once again to bring a sport-based drama movie named "Ghoomer", which launched its trailer on Friday afternoon.

Ghoomer, starring Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher is a story that by the trailer showcases the plight of a paraplegic cricketer. Bachchan as seen in the snippet acts as a former Indian cricketer-turned-mentor, while Kher plays the role of a female cricketer, who turns from a batter to a bowler due to an unfortunate accident.

The movie is slated to release on August 18 and is directed by much-acclaimed director R Balki. Apart from Bachchan, Kher the film also has Angad Bedi, who is the son of former India captain Bishen Singh Bedi.

As revealed by the director, the sports-drama movie will focus on the achievements of differently-abled players.

Over the years, as many as 16 cricket-based movies have been made in Bollywood, with several of them being biographies of high-profile Indian players. 

Some of the more distinguished ones have been Love Marriage, Awwal Number, Lagaan, Iqbal, Jannat, Patiala House, M.S Dhoni – The Untold Story, Sachin: A Billion Dreams, Shabaash Mithu, and 83. 

Recently, former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni also ventured into the entertainment world, with his maiden produced movie 'LGM - Let's Get Married' under the 'Dhoni Entertainment Pvt Ltd' banner.
