To the delight of cricket fans across the globe, the ICC World Cup will take centre stage in October-November this year. The tournament, which will see several nail-biting contests between ten top-class teams, will commence with a high-voltage opening clash between the previous edition's finalists, England and New Zealand.

Meanwhile, ahead of the showpiece event, legendary English cricketer Eoin Morgan has predicted the favourites to clinch the title. Speaking to WION, Morgan, who led England to their first-ever ODI World Cup trophy in 2019, named India, along with England, Australia and Pakistan, the top contenders for the coveted trophy.

He lavished praise on India, explaining why the Rohit Sharma-led team could win the World Cup.

As quoted by WION, Morgan said,

"India is an excellent cricket team and will be favourites going into the 2023 World Cup. Home advantage is a keen thing. My advice for them would be to engage with the people that were there (in 2011) and probably pick their brains. It's going to be a hell of a tournament. I am looking forward to it, hoping don't have too much luck."

As per the released schedule, India will begin their World Cup campaign against Australia on October 8 in Chennai. However, the BCCI will soon come up with a revised schedule following several boards' objections to the original one.
