As the Indian men’s cricket team gears up for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the squad is intensifying its preparations at the ICC Cricket Academy in Dubai. Arriving on February 15, the Men in Blue held two practice sessions on February 16 and 17.

During Monday’s evening training session under lights, captain Rohit Sharma singled out local fast bowler Awais Ahmad for praise. Ahmad is a local boy who is an all-rounder and plays in domestic UAE tournaments. As understood, he was called in for India's net practice sessions.

Rohit Sharma Hilariously Accuses Young Bowler Of Breaking His Leg!

A viral video which was uploaded by Awais on his official social media handle, captured the 37-year-old skipper, commending Ahmad's skill. Ahmad’s ability to deliver precise inswing yorkers caught Rohit’s attention, prompting the captain to label him as a 'class bowler'.

As Ahmad spoke that he wholeheartedly wanted to bowl the Indian skipper someday in the nets, Rohit hilariously complained while praising the talent, stating that the Ahmad tried to break his leg with lethal yorkers.

"Aap humare joota… pair todne ki kosish kar rahe the inswinging yorker maar ke. Badiya bhai badiya. Aap log humko yaha help kar rahe ho, bada acha lag raha hai, thank you."

Besides Rohit, Shubman Gill was also seen in the video, shaking hands with the bowler and appreciating his help.

Rohit Eyeing Peak Form In Champions Trophy

Meanwhile, the Indian skipper has seen a resurgence in form. After struggling during last year’s Test series against New Zealand and the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Rohit silenced critics with a match-winning 119 off 90 balls in the second ODI against England.

With the Champions Trophy returning after an eight-year hiatus, the team management hopes Rohit replicates his stellar 2023 ODI World Cup and 2024 T20 World Cup form. A strong performance from the veteran batter could significantly boost India’s chances of clinching the title, with all eyes on their high-stakes clash against Pakistan on February 23 in Dubai.
