Andhra Pradesh’s young cricket sensation Shree Charani rose to fame after India won the 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup. She has now received a grand reward from her home state, which includes a ₹2.5 crore cash prize, a government job and even a 1,000-square-yard house site.
The left-arm spinner finished the tournament with 14 wickets, making her one of India’s top performers.
Her match-turning dismissal of South Africa’s Anneke Bosch in the final, trapping her lbw for zero, gave India the breakthrough they desperately needed.
Earlier, in the semifinal against Australia, she picked up two crucial wickets for 49 runs, helping India seal their spot in the title clash.
Shree Charani showered with lucrative rewards
Meanwhile, the 21-year-old spinner from Kadapa district has now received a grand reward from her home state, Andhra Pradesh.
The state cricket association has announced a ₹2.5 crore cash prize, a government job as a Group 1 officer, and also a 1,000-square-yard house site in her hometown.

Shree, meanwhile, couldn’t hide her excitement as she met the Chief Minister and Minister Nara Lokesh, presenting them with a T-shirt signed by all her World Cup-winning teammates.
Her path from the small village of Yerramala Palle in Kadapa to winning the World Cup trophy is nothing less than a fairy tale.
Under the guidance of her maternal uncle, Kishore Kumar Reddy, who played cricket part-time at the Rayalaseema Thermal Power Station, Shree Charani began showing promise.
She polished her skills under the Andhra Cricket Association, earning her first international cap in April 2025, less than 6 months before the World Cup.
