Former Indian pacer Zaheer Khan is reportedly in discussions with Lucknow Super Giants to take on the role of team mentor. If successful, Zaheer could fill the void left by the departures of Gautam Gambhir and Morne Morkel, two key figures in the IPL franchise.

Gambhir Gambhir left for Kolkata Knight Riders in 2023, and Morkel, who served as the bowling coach for three seasons for LSG, is set to join the Indian national team setup.

Zaheer Khan's name has been floated not only for the mentor role but also to help guide the Super Giants' bowlers. Known for his expertise, Zaheer has previously been considered for a bowling coach position under Gambhir's new setup for Team India.

However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) opted for Morne Morkel instead, likely on Gambhir's recommendation.

LSG’s Strong Coaching Setup

If the deal with Zaheer materializes, he will work alongside head coach Justin Langer and an impressive coaching team that includes Adam Voges, Lance Klusener, and Jonty Rhodes.

The Lucknow Super Giants, after narrowly missing the playoffs last season, could benefit greatly from Zaheer’s leadership as they prepare for another competitive IPL season.
