In a significant development, there are reports that India legend Yuvraj Singh is likely to become the next head coach of Lucknow Super Giants. Notably, things are not well with the LSG camp as the Sanjiv Goenka-owned side have recently undergone key managerial changes.

According to InsideSports, Goenka is in conversation with Yuvraj Singh to replace Justin Langar as LSG's next head coach for IPL 2026. Notably, LSG have struggled to qualify for playoffs in the last two seasons, which is why the board have also parted ways with Zaheer Khan.

Notably, LSG recently parted ways with Khan after a year of association and also brought in Kane Williamson as a strategic advisor. Thus, it is expected that the Super Giants also part ways with Langar and bring in Yuvraj Singh.

Yuvraj Singh set for his first stint as head coach in IPL

If the proposed move does materialise, it will be Yuvraj Singh's first-ever coaching stint in IPL. The southpaw, who has represented the league as a player for nearly 11 years, has never thought of coaching any side until now.

The only experience of Yuvraj has been as a mentor in the Abu Dhabi T10 league, but other than that, he hasn't been around as a coach in leagues.

Possible reasons why LSG are pushing for Yuvraj Singh

The reason behind Goenka pushing for Yuvraj could be because of his recent work with the youngsters. Notably, Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma have trained under Singh, and their recent rise in Indian cricket is on a different level, and Yuvraj must be credited for the efforts.

Further, Singh is currently working with Prabhsimran Singh and grooming him to break into the Indian team. Similarly, LSG want a player or a coach like Yuvraj Singh to groom young talents at LSG.
