Shubman Gill Rested, Ashwin To Replace Thakur? Here's India's Playing XI Vs Bangladesh

After securing thumping victories against Australia, Afghanistan and Pakistan, India will take on their Asian rivals Bangladesh in the 17th group-stage game of the ICC World Cup. India have been absolutely phenomenal in the tournament, winning three consecutive games. Meanwhile, the Tigers, who kicked off their World Cup campaign with a comprehensive win over Afghanistan, followed it up with two heavy defeats and would like to bounce back in this face-off.

So, as the Men in Blue get ready to sustain their dream run in the World Cup, let's see what combination they will likely prefer for the high-octane battle against Bangladesh in Pune.

Will Shubman Gill play vs Bangladesh?

Talking about India, the Men in Blue made a solitary change to their playing XI for the mega clash against Pakistan, replacing Ishan Kishan with Shubman Gill. The stylish right-handed batter will continue to open alongside Rohit Sharma, as he has completely recovered from the Dengue fever, which ruled him out of the initial two matches.

While Virat Kohli will bat at his preferred number three position, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul will follow him at number four and five, with Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja slotted at number six and seven, respectively.

R Ashwin vs Shardul Thakur: Who will play?

However, India might think to replace Shardul Thakur with experienced spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, considering Bangladesh have three left-handed batters, including skipper Shakib Al Hasan, in their top seven. So, if a dry surface is dished out in Pune, the Men in Blue will likely rope in Ashwin, benching Thakur.

On the contrary, if the surface is on the flatter side, Thakur might continue as the third seamer, with Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah spearheading India's pace attack.
