Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 61st match of IPL 2025 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on May 19. LSG are still in the race for the playoffs with three matches left to secure their spot.
Meanwhile, SRH have had a rough season and are already out of playoff contention. They are currently in 8th place on the points table, with just 3 wins, 7 losses, and 1 no result. Even though they are only playing for pride now, it is unlikely that their star batter, Travis Head, will be available for today’s match.
Will Travis Head Play Today?
Travis Head returned to Australia after the IPL was suspended for a week due to border tensions between India and Pakistan. While in Australia, Head tested positive for COVID-19. SRH head coach Daniel Vettori confirmed during a press conference that Head’s return to India has been delayed due to the infection.
Though it’s unclear exactly when or where Head caught the virus, Vettori stated that he would arrive in India on Monday morning and be assessed by the team’s medical staff. Head was later spotted arriving at Lucknow Airport wearing a face mask, but given the recent news of his positive COVID-19 test, it is highly unlikely that he will play today.
If Head is unavailable, SRH might push Kishan to open the batting, while Sachin Baby or Harsh Dubey could fill a middle-order spot.
Travis Head’s Performance in IPL 2025
After an impressive IPL 2024, where Head scored 567 runs in 15 matches, his form has dipped significantly this season. In the current IPL, he has managed just 281 runs from 11 matches. Considering his form and the recent COVID-19 situation, his absence might not significantly affect SRH’s chances.
