In a significant development, India's preparation for the highly anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia can hit a potential roadblock, as rain is predicted to disrupt their training schedule in Perth. The first Test match is set to commence on November 22, but with showers expected in the lead-up to the game, India's final preparations may take a significant hit.

Rain Threatens India’s Preparation For Perth Test

According to AccWeather.com, rain is forecasted in Perth from November 19 to November 21. This could prevent the Indian team from practising outdoors for three consecutive days before the start of the opening Test. Given that several players in the squad are touring Australia for the first time, missing crucial training sessions ahead of the series is a cause for concern.

The unavailability of captain Rohit Sharma, who is set to join the team only for the second Test in Adelaide, and the injury to opener Shubman Gill have alreadY raised concerns. Now, with rain threatening their practice sessions, the team's preparation for the series opener looks increasingly challenging.

Cloudy And Overcast Conditions On Day 1

The weather forecast indicates that while the rain is expected to clear up by November 22, the opening day of the first Test is likely to remain cloudy. Historically, overcast conditions at Perth's Optus Stadium have provided ample assistance to fast bowlers, making the toss a crucial factor in the match. Both teams will likely look to bowl first if conditions remain gloomy, aiming to exploit the early moisture in the pitch.

India's struggles in overcast conditions were recently on display in their home series against New Zealand in Bengaluru. If similar conditions prevail in Perth, India's batting lineup could face significant pressure once again, especially without the presence of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill at the top.
