In a major development, IPL franchise Punjab Kings signed Mitchell Owen as Glenn Maxwell's injury replacement. The swashbuckling right-handed batter bagged a lucrative IPL 2025 contract worth INR 3 Crores, and, he is all set to feature in the remainder of the tournament.
Will PCB Ban Mitchell Owen From PSL?
It's worth mentioning that Mitchell Owen was roped in by Peshawar Zalmi after going unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction. He has batted on six occasions, scoring 106 runs at a outstanding strike rate of 198.04.
However, as he has been picked up by Punjab Kings, the IPL contract has put his PSL participation in jeopardy. Having said that, ESPN Cricinfo has reported that Owen will join the PBKS setup only after completing his PSL stint with Peshawar Zalmi.
Currently, the Zalmi are placed fifth in the points table, having won three out of seven matches. They have three games left and will play their final group-stage match on 9th May.
If the Zalmi qualify for the playoffs, including the final, Owen's IPL joining could get a bit delayed, as he might unite with the Kings after May 18. In such a scenario, the PCB won't likely take any action on him.
When PCB Banned Corbin Bosch For Leaving PSL
Notably, the Pakistan board imposed a one-year ban on Corbin Bosch for skipping PSL 2025 after getting picked by Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2025.
In his response, Bosch apologised for his actions, assuring the PCB and Pakistan fans of not repeating it ever again. Coincidentally, he was also a part of Peshawar Zalmi for the mega event.
The South African cricketer has emerged as an asset for MI in the tournament, playing a vital role with his seam bowling and handy lower-order hitting.
