New Zealand and West Indies will vie for the series victory when they cross swords against each other in the third and deciding ODI match at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados on Sunday (August 21).

The host nation scored a comfortable five-wicket win in the first ODI while New Zealand leveled the series by winning the rain-curtailed second ODI to bring it to the decider at Kensington Oval.

With the series on the line, both teams will look to deliver their A-1 game and clinch a victory in this fixture.

The likes of Finn Allen, Martin Guptill and Trent Boult will hold the key for the Black Caps, while the hosts will be expecting their batters to produce some stellar show with the bat.

Key Performers

  • Finn Allen: The 23-year-old was one of the reasons why New Zealand was able to crush the hosts in the 2nd ODI. His 117-ball 96 empowered the Kiwis' shaky innings and helped them put on a fighting total on the board. He also scored 25 runs off 24 balls in the opening match and now leads the batting charts with 121 runs.
  • Shamarh Brooks: After a stunning 79-run knock in the series opener, Brooks failed to open his account in the second ODI. Heading into the deciding fixture, he will look to put the disappointment behind him and provide the team with a solid start at the top.
  • Alzarri Joseph: The Caribbean all-rounder has done well in the series contributing with both bat and ball. In the second ODI, he picked up a crucial wicket of Devon Conway and later stacked 49 runs off just 31 balls. He took three wickets in the opening match and will be looking to repeat a similar performance in the do-or-die encounter.

Injury Report

Kane Williamson is expected to make a comeback to the team after missing the second ODI due to a quad muscle strain.

Pitch Report

The surface at Bridgetown provides an equal contest between bat and ball as we have seen in the last couple of games. The new ball generally tests the batters with an extreme swing while spinners get the magic wands in the middle overs.

The average first-inning score here has been around 220 and the majority of the games here have been dominated by the chasing sides.
