After the conclusion of the ODI series, India and West Indies will play a five-match T20I series, beginning on Thursday, at the Brian Lara Cricket Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad. Indian keeper-batter Sanju Samson, who scored a half-century in the recent third ODI against the West Indies, will be eyeing a personal milestone if he features in this game. 

He will look to join the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in an elite list of batters to have amassed more than 6000 runs in T20 cricket. Samson has 5979 runs, including those he has scored in the IPL, in 241 T20 matches. Thus, he needs only 21 runs more to become the 13th Indian batsman with more than 6000 runs in the shortest format.

The elite list is headed by Kohli, who has 11,965 runs in 374 T20 matches. He is followed on the list by India captain Rohit Sharma, who has 11,035 runs to his name in 423 appearances.

Samson has played 17 T20Is for India at the international level, amassing 301 runs at an average of over 20.

Meanwhile, India will be looking to end their tour of the West Indies with a win in all three formats. After emerging victorious in the Tests and ODIs, the visitors will now look to extend their dominance to the shortest format. 

The likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, and Arshdeep Singh have joined the squad for the T20I series. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been rested, while Mohammed Siraj has been excluded as a part of workload management.
